About Me
I am Elmer, currently I am working as a computer tech. The purpose for my page is to meet different aspects such as helping people with computer problems, adding thing i like, news about new technology and more. I have knowledge in computer repair and maintenance and know how to use different operating systems such as: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and some Linux. To submit a question about a computer problem just go to my forum and add it in the topics, in order to add topics to the forum you must register with nabble, which is a free service. I have posted a topic already of the forum on how to create a nabble account.
I am currently testing Ubuntu linux. Ubuntu is a free operating system that has most of the functions a person would need. It comes loaded with all the necessary software such as OpenOffice which is similar to Microsoft Office, it has the ability of opening files that are in Microsoft format. It comes with a media player for playing media files. As for the web browser it comes with Mozilla Firefox installed. Also Linux has no virus, therefore it is a safer operating system. Ubuntu cannot open windows programs on its own, but a program called "wine" helps Ubuntu to open programs designed to windows. The only problem is that it is unable to open all the programs.
